Psychosocial impact of Covid-19 outbreak on Italian asthmatic children and their mothers in a post lockdown scenario

Abstract Italy was the first European country to fight Covid-19 outbreak. To limit transmission of virus, Italian Government imposed strict domestic quarantine policies and temporary closure non-essential businesses schools from March 10th,2020. Although more literature is exploring impact pandemic on non-referred children families, only a few studies are focused psychosocial in chronically ill their caregivers. The present study investigates asthma control mothers’ psychological functioning (i.e.: well-being, fear contagion, related fears) 45 asthmatic aged 7-to-14, compared sample. subjects were administered an online survey after lockdown (from 28th May 23rd August 2020). analysis shows that presented higher concern relation however, no difference displayed between two cohorts. Mothers reported fears, greater worries according resumption children’s activities. Moreover, they indicated global worsening well-being during lockdown. Furthermore, regarding clinical sample, multivariate regression model showed mothers' physical associated with results this indicate mothers can be prone experience fatigue scenario. Special programs should developed support caregivers children.
